I took the shape from a Czech hedgehog — the anti-tank obstacle that lined the beaches at Normandy. Three beams, crossed and welded, built for one purpose: to stop an army cold.
I wanted to turn that into its opposite. Something you gather around. Something you set a cup of coffee on and sit with the people you love. The same form that was made to divide a beach, reborn as a place to bring people together.
Hand-fabricated by me in Montana, from solid steel, finished in raw mill scale. Topped with tempered glass so nothing hides the structure underneath.
